Our Review: Secrets in Summer by Nancy Thayer

What a fun summer read this is!  Some of my favorite books are beach reads that pull you in and immerse you into the story.  That is exactly what Nancy Thayer did with Secrets in Summer.

Darcy Cotterill is a local girl on the island of Nantucket.  She is living her dream, that of being a librarian.  It has been her dream since she was a little girl.  It's because of her hard work and dedication to her dream that she has been able to achieve it...even through some of life's hardest challenges.

Summers on Nantucket bring lots of tourists and summer people.  It's always exciting to meet the new people and what they will bring to the island.

Darcy quickly befriends Mimi, the aged grandmother here for her last hurrah, Susan, the exhausted mother of three active boys and Willow...the step-daughter of her ex-husband.

Navigating having her ex-husband and his new family next door for the entire summer will be a challenge. As secrets are revealed for the group, only time will tell if their relationships will survive the truth.

If you are looking for a beach read that will prep you for summertime, this is the book for you.  The characters in Secrets of Summer are fantastic and so developed you would think they were actually real people.  They were definitely my people!

This book drew me in from the very beginning and I couldn't wait to get back to it when I had to put it down.  It's a fairly quick read...it took me two days or approximately 6 hours.  Everything was perfectly descriptive and I was easily swept in to the gardens and time at the beach as if I was actually there.

Lamplight Review and Promotion is giving Secrets of Summer 4 stars and we can't wait to see what Miss Nancy Thayer has up next!
