This wasn’t
supposed to happen.
But it did.
This wasn’t
supposed to be my life.
But it was.
I was just a typical
girl, living a typical life. Nothing was out of the ordinary until tragedy
threw me into a turnstile I couldn’t see my way out of. That was, until him.
I never could’ve
imagined my heart falling the way it did. Hard, fast, and with unbounding beauty.
The only problem?
He was off limits.
Forbidden.
But he became my
everything, and I became his, so we risked it all. It was only a matter of time
until I realized that our risk came with unimaginable consequences.
My name is Camellia
Hale and his is David Andrews, and this is our love story.

Our Review
This is one story that will stick with me for a while. Not sure the term Book Hangover is going to accurately describe the after effects of reading Secret Lucidity.
I have been on a reading streak of forbidden romances and easily this story is making the list of one of my favorites so far this year. I was pretty much weepy the entire time I was reading, so make sure to have some tissues handy.
Being in Cam's position is something I don't think I could ever imagine...the heartbreak alone is something I am not sure I could survive. But everything that results from that one instant and the way she deals with the aftermath, I can't even judge and really want to give her props. She was mostly mature and took things partially in stride and I think if women are honest with themselves, they probably couldn't have done much better.
There are a lot of situations in this story that people could consider triggers, but that is really going to be determined by the reader. Of all the things that triggered the most tears for me...it was the disjointed relationship Cam had with her mother that set me off the most.
It is a romance and of all the romance I have read, the sex scenes in Secret Lucidity are pretty tame. It's there...but the descriptors and intensity are fairly relaxed. This is a good read for people who like less in that department.
The vibe I got was that the author wants you to take away the strength of the relationship and the emotional undercurrents and maybe less of the forbidden aspect of the situation. It's about finding that one person that gets you, that holds you up when you can't do it for yourself, regardless of society's perception of what is normal. Finding that one person who loves you unconditionally even though it's considered wrong. You can't explain it.
Yes, you will cry. Yes, you will smile. But I really think you are going to love this story.
I gave this one 5 stars, all well deserved!
