SYNOPSIS:

Secrets are whispered in the dead of night. They hold truth, but they also cause pain. I hold those words close to my chest. I cage them like I do the beast within me. Until her.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A broken heart can never mend. That’s what I believed. Guilt, anger, and fear held me back, kept me prisoner. Until she unlocked me from my cage.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Will my past haunt me forever or will she be the one to finally set me free?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Broken. Tainted. Scared.
Those words were my life. I believed them until the moment his eyes met mine. But he walked away, leaving me in hell.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I thought I would be saved, but the man who took me only served to shatter me further.
Until him. Those hands, those eyes, those whispered words, they were my glue.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Will he forgive me for my deception or will I finally be cast out of his life forever?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
*This is a dark erotic romance with BDSM elements. Due to scenes of an adult nature, this book is for 18+ ONLY.

OUR OPINION:

I am really loving the Sins of Seven series and Whisper, book 2, really cements that in.

Whisper has so many twists and turns, so much heartache and pain and so many elements that make this a satisfying read.  Crying is inevitable so grab some tissues!

Riddled with taboo subject matter, Dani Rene does a great job writing Gia through her past and her pain.  Eli is no exception to the pain game...he has his own heartache to deal with and the relationship that builds between Eli and Gia is a strong yet highly emotional one.

There are so many surprises that writing this review is a little difficult as I don't want to give anything away.  Suffice it to say you will be trying to figure out the surprises at every turn and then sitting on the edge of your seat towards the end.

Dani Rene and this series has me hooked and I am waiting impatiently for what comes next.

I am giving Whisper 5 stars!

SYNOPSIS:

From the second she saw him, Layla Barros knew Nico Soltero was all wrong. Wrong age. Wrong education. Wrong job. Wrong everything. She had a hard enough time convincing her parents that New York really is the right place for their nineteen-year-old daughter without telling them she's got a thing for the FedEx guy at her new part-time job. Too bad the second she saw him, Layla Barros no longer cared about right and wrong.

Raised with three siblings in Hell's Kitchen by a single-mom, half Puerto Rican, half Italian Nico Soltero is a quintessential New York mutt who's always had to shoulder the burdens of his family. Burdens which have cost him almost all of his dreams, like going to college or becoming an FDNY firefighter. Now, at twenty-six, he's finally getting the chance to leave the place that's always felt more like a dead weight than the center of the universe. Too bad the city of his birth has one last hard knock to deal: the girl of his dreams, sitting right in the middle of his delivery route, three months before his plane is supposed to take off.

As Layla and Nico find out, love isn't always convenient, and it never happens how they planned. The choices that Nico and Layla make now will affect their lives forever. Will they make them together or apart?

OUR OPINION:

Holy Cliffhangers!

Bad Idea was a great idea!  Really I think this book is much more of a journey than anything.  I didn't realize that there would be more...yeah I didn't catch that VOL 1 thing.

I am totally invested in whatever comes next.  These characters quickly wormed their way into my heart.  A young woman who just wants the chance to be herself away from her family and be who she was meant to be meets handsome, slightly older man who just wants to get away from the responsibilities that have been forced upon him.  They really just meet at the wrong time in their lives, but you really get wrapped up in how much they come to care for one another.

There was one point in the story that really just broke my heart...I know you'll know it when you read it.  I felt such heartache, sadness, pain...it brought me to tears...and that is what I love most about a story like this.

There were some fantastic secondary characters in this story and while I don't see where they have much potential for their own stories, their involvement in this one is pretty integral.  My favorite friend is Quinn and I really just love how she bleeds the lines of friend to almost family.  She is a rock and overprotective and super loyal.

Most definitely Volume 2 is on my must read.  I can't wait to see what is next for Layla and Nico.

I am giving Bad Idea 5 stars.

SYNOPSIS:

Drake
This marriage was supposed to be another business deal. My latest investment, a means to an end… I need an heir. Which means I want her belly swollen with my child before the year is out.

She was supposed to be my perfect little bride. Quiet. Uncomplicated. Unemotional.

I didn’t foresee the stunning firecracker who tumbled into my life and woke things in me I thought were long dead. I didn’t count on her turning my world upside down.

And I definitely didn’t plan on falling for this beauty.

Noriko
This marriage was supposed to be my sacrifice. A way to save my father, a means to an end… I need to remain childless. So I can exit the contract at the end of the year.

He was supposed to be a boring old man. Distant. Uncomplicated. Passionless.

I didn’t foresee the rude, arrogant and beautiful brute who made my body react like fire and smoke. I didn’t count on there being more underneath his gruff exterior.

And I’m definitely not supposed to fall in love with the beast.

This is a NEW story using old characters from the unpublished novel, Girl Wife Prisoner. This version has no Keir, no cheating and a Happily Ever After. Although this book is part of a series, it is a standalone novel.

OUR OPINION:

Mr. Blackwell's Bride is a total WIN for me!

What made this book for me were the tears.  It's been a while since I have found a book that pulled in all the right places and made me cry.  Those are truly my favorite books and I was able to enjoy this book from beginning to end.

Drake was truly one of the biggest jerks around...he just really didn't know what to do with Noriko and the new expectations that being a husband really presented.  I think that is what made the emotions for me.  He was so detached and brusque that to see that develop was magical almost.

I did get a little irritated with Noriko...just because she does know emotion and I just couldn't believe she was so focused on the end game...get in, get out.  But watching all of the feelings develop really warmed me to her and I could understand and feel for her after a bit.

I have read several of Sienna Blake's stories and really I never been disappointed.  I think I have binged every single one and keep coming back for more...certain I will not be let down.

Mr. Blackwell's Bride is a great emotional ride, one I highly encourage you take!

I am giving Mr. Blackwell's Bride 5 stars.

SYNOPSIS:

She needs a fake fiancé…

With the holidays fast approaching, Miranda Flores makes up a fake fiancé so her well-meaning family will get off her back. She just never expected them to suddenly show up on her doorstep a couple weeks before Christmas, wanting to spend the holidays with her. So she turns to Nolan O’Connor, her sexy best friend, and asks him for the favor of a lifetime: she needs him to act the part of her fiancé until her parents leave town.

He wants forever…

Pretending to be engaged to the woman he’s already fallen for? No problem. Nolan agrees to Miranda’s fake engagement scheme because as far as he’s concerned, she’s the one. But he plays his role too well, because soon the entire town thinks they’re engaged and things get more complicated—especially since he can’t pretend with her anymore. Then tragedy strikes and Miranda tries to shut him out, but Nolan won’t let her. He’ll do whatever it takes to convince her that he wants to make her his forever.

OUR OPINION:

Mistletoe Me, Baby was a win for me.  Take a guy who secretly loves a girl and add in a fake engagement and I am a happy girl.  What clinched this win for me was Mateo, Miranda's nephew.  Kids always, ALWAYS add an element of vulnerability to a story that pulls me in.  I love watching the outside character fitting into an already made family.  Everything has to be done so carefully.

I giggled a little at this story when Nolan is so persistent.  Becoming Miranda's fake fiancé was like a green light to him.  A bull in a china shop is really how I would describe him.  He didn't take no for an answer and Miranda definitely didn't know what to do with him.

Mistletoe Me, Baby has a little bit of drama in it which adds a great element to an already great story.
Reading time for this book was a little over 2 hours...easy enough to get through before bed or on a Sunday afternoon.

I am giving Mistletoe Me, Baby 4 stars.

SYNOPSIS:

From NY Times Bestselling author, CD Reiss, love comes in the most ordinary and most forbidden places.

Rules for my new job:
1) Do not have sex with a man in the office (again).
2) Do not break Rule #1

I’m playing it cool, clean, and professional…until I meet Roman Bianchi. He’s not an insecure nerd or an ego-hole like the other kings of Silicon Valley. He’s charming and handsome. He’s fun, funny, and smart.

He’s also in the office across the hall.

Two broken rules waiting to happen.
I can’t lose this job over some guy.
But Roman’s not just some guy. Under that suit and cocky smile, he’s a prince.

OUR REVIEW:

FILE UNDER: Must Read!

Office romance that's a definite no-no...yes, please. I have read many taboo office romances in the past but honestly I think the taboo was more a suggestion than a hard line NO. This was a definite NO and watching Raven fight herself was pretty enthralling!

FILE UNDER: Couldn't put it down!

C.D. Reiss gave me something that had me inhaling every word and raised my heart rate a little with the will they won't they and everything that follows.

Reading time for Prince Roman was under two hours and worth every minute!

I vaguely recall hearing about the 1001 Dark Nights series...but if all the books in this series are like Prince Roman...count me in!

C.D. Reiss added a magnificient story to this series and honestly I am not surprised. Consistently, C.D. Reiss produces quality work that makes a reader coming back for more and Prince Roman is no exception!

I am giving Prince Roman 5 stars.

SYNOPSIS:

Charlotte Daley is the daughter of the newly elected POTUS. An only child, she's both spoiled rotten and entirely neglected by her powerful family. She's been forced to eat with the right forks, smile at all the right times, and be the picture of perfection for months. Now that her father is in office and too busy to know she exists, she's determined to exercise her new freedom before she heads back to college in New York.

Zane Parker has one job--to protect the President's daughter, all day, every day. But she's been on a partying spree since the inauguration, heading down a dangerous path that threatens to ruin her reputation and cause a major scandal for her father. Zane will lose his job if he can't get her under control. Except he wants to sleep with her as badly as he wants to set her straight. She needs discipline. And he might be just the one to give it to her.

When unexpected circumstances tie Charlotte to D.C. for the foreseeable future, Zane makes her an offer that's anything but honorable. He'll give the first daughter all the thrills she's seeking in exchange for one thing... Her obedience. Fascinated by Zane's dark promises, Charlotte agrees. Submission has never felt so good. But as Zane brings her deeper into his forbidden desires, enemies surface and danger lurks...

Our Opinion:

Well consider this one devourable.  I'm sure that's not even a word but I am using it.

The Misadventure Series...admittedly I know nothing about it.  Misadventures of The First Daughter is the first book in this series that I have read and it is # 5 in order.  Each book appears to be a standalone and all look super tempting!  I chose to read and review this one in particular because I like a little politics...sometimes.

I was not disappointed in this read...AT.ALL!  You literally jump in and are thrown in to sexual tension and angst right from the start.  And this only keeps intensifying throughout the book to a very satisfying end.  You are kept on the edge of your seat with the anticipatory danger and forbidden reality of what is happening.  I was run through a long list of emotions...hate, fear, lust, love, disappointment, rejection...it was all there...and I LOVED it!

Reading time for Misadventures of The First Daughter was a little over 3 hours.  Easy enough to get through in one sitting, long enough to read over a couple days...though you won't.  Trust me.  Remember...devourable.

I am giving Misadventures of The First Daughter 5 stars.

SYNOPSIS:

I wish someone would’ve warned me about the dangers of falling in love with your best friend.

I was no stranger to covering up my problems with meaningless sex and alcohol.

When Brea asked me for one night to help her forget, I craved being the man she needed.

Just sex.

No commitment.

Then she begged me to promise her nothing would change between us. I couldn’t bring myself to lie to her.

One night.

One broken promise.

I will never forget the night I fell in love with my best friend, and now nothing will ever be the same.

*Lost Before You is an interconnected stand-alone novel.

OUR OPINION:

Lost Before You is Book two in the Heart's Compass series by Brooke O'Brien and is a great "follow up" to Where I Found You.  This series has quickly landed itself on my stalking list!

Lost Before You reads parallel to Where I Found You, using those secondary characters now as primary. I really am enjoying this group of friends and their drama.  They have quite the crew and I love that Mason and Callum are brothers with their own drama...it's not just a girl and guy struggling to find each other.  It's more.  Complex, and with so much deep seated hurt for several characters...emotional too!

Best friends falling in love makes some of the best angst!  He wants to keep his promise about nothing changing but secretly can't and she really just wants to be loved and can't figure out where her best friend went.  I have to say so far Mason is my favorite guy.

I read this whole thing in one sitting...much like book two and this took me a little over 4 hours.  While Lost Before You is part of a series it can be read as a standalone...you won't have any problems understanding what is going on.

I really like this series and can't wait for more.  Still waiting for the one that pulls on my heart strings and makes me ugly cry for hours.

I am giving Lost Before You 4 stars.

Synopsis:

An incubus who feeds off the sexual desires of others, Roth de Lis has never been denied the pleasure of a woman’s body...until now.

Lilah, once a warrior maiden in the service of a goddess, languishes on earth after being cast out from the slopes of Mount Olympus.

Lilah will do anything to return home, including betraying Roth. As she spins her web of lies, Roth begins a slow, wicked seduction that eventually threatens to consume them both.

But when Lilah’s deceit comes to light, will their torrid love affair be able to overcome a pact with the darkest of gods?

Our Opinion:

Easily this is going to be another win for Celia Aaron.

Incubus is a highly sexually charged story about a warrior woman who wants redemption and acceptance again with her family...and will do anything to get it.

There really wasn't anything that wasn't enjoyable about this book.  The determination of Lilah while she hunts for Roth...the anticipation of what their relationship may or may not become...the backstories of each others pasts...all very integral in the telling of Incubus.

Reading time for Incubus was about 4.5 hours. I wasn't able to read it all in one sitting because I picked it up at the wrong time, but easily, I could have binged the whole thing.  It kept me intrigued throughout the whole book.

There are a lot of great secondary characters in Incubus and if given the right muse, Celia Aaron could easily turn this into a series.

I agreed to review Incubus based off two things.  The cover is beautiful, hot and intriguing...and Celia Aaron has never let me down.

If you enjoy the paranormal reads, vampires, nymphs, demons...then this book is for you!

I am giving Incubus 5 stars.

We had the chance to review The Imperfect Love World Series.

This link will take you to all the books in the series.

Here is what we had to say:

Not Her – Julia Bright

Jason Delany Baxter-Scott…the fifth. What a terrible name to have to live up to. There is no question in his mind that he’ll never live up to his parents’ expectations. Baxter, as he is known to his friends, is trying, but when his fiancée dumps him, he has less than an hour to find someone to stand in to meet his demanding mother and father. He knew Heather in college, and she recently sent a note, saying she’d moved to New York. It was a dick move, but he invited her for drinks, only to introduce her to his parents as his fiancée.
Heather is still the same free-spirited woman who challenged him to be his own man in California. She’s nothing like the women his parents’ think he should marry, and that makes her forbidden fruit. He admires her for standing up for herself and never backing down. She’s got spunk and a whole lot more that turns him on and leaves him wanting.

Heather Burke doesn’t put up with BS. She’s worked hard to develop a clothing line that sells in her own high-end boutiques. Her style may be quirky, but she’s business savvy and worldly. When Baxter contacts her, she’s in for a drink or two, but when she arrives, and his parents think she’s the fiancée, the night is turned on its end. Baxter told her story after story about how horrible his parents were so she can’t abandon him, but going along in this ruse may just be the end of her.

Back in California, she lost her heart to Baxter, and this fake fiancée stuff may just take her mind too. When he’s not bowing to his parents’ pressure, Baxter is a decent guy, someone she could see herself with for the rest of her life. She just has to convince Baxter he doesn’t need their approval to be a good man.
When the stakes get high, they both are challenged.

Can Heather walk away from Baxter, or will she stay and teach him to fight for himself?

This is a fun second chance romance where Heather and Baxter pretend to be engaged for the sake of Baxter taking over his father's company.  Falling in love really isn't in their plans, but man is their chemistry hot!

This is a quick read that took me just under two hours.

I loved watching Baxter come into himself and figure out what and who he really wanted. Heather was amazing in that she was very sure of herself and I loved watching her not back down from ANYONE including Jason!

Great Story!

ARRANGED by FiFi Flowers

Ireland Dumont loved her life—single with not a care in the world, running her own online concierge company. On the edge of ultimate success, her parents stepped in and arranged a proper groom for her to marry. Giving over to their request, she heads to Vegas to celebrate her last days of freedom.

Meeting a handsome stranger was not on her agenda.
Accepting his marriage proposal was the perfect addendum to her agenda.

Jensen Callum needed a wife for his new business venture with a company that prided themselves on being a family-owned operation. His old playboy status was about to be nipped in the bud by his parents when he returned home from his business trip to an arranged marriage of their doing.

What will happen when Ireland and Jensen’s families find out that they arranged their own marriage venture that wasn’t in the grand scheme of things?

This story was a sweet twist of fate.  For an insta lust/love story it was pretty good.  I loved how Jensen and Ireland were willing to take on their families for what they just found.  Can't really say much more than this due to length and I don't want to give much away.  The attraction and buildup was excellent!

This was a quick read, so it is one you can easily do in one sitting...it took me just over an hour to get through.

HOSTILE FAKEOVER by Cary Hart

Up-and-coming artist Bianca Black has her eyes set on one thing, and one thing only: Transforming her late grandmother's building into the gallery of her dreams. All is going according to plan until legal issues arise and a sexy-as-hell club owner gets in her way. Losing the building could leave her homeless, bringing a whole new meaning to starving artist.

Entrepreneur Ford Phillips, always gets what he wants and this time won't be any different. He has spent years trying to buy the old, run-down building nestled between the high rises of Manhattan. Just when he thinks it's within his reach, he finds himself in for way more than he bargained for.

Bianca and Ford must call a truce in an attempt to "fake it ’til you make it." Can these two keep things amicable or will this Fakeover turn Hostile?

Hostile Fakeover by Cary Hart was fantastic.  This one is a quick read, only took me about an hour and a half.

Bianca and Ford are a great couple. She just wants success and he just wants her to succeed...she just doesn't know it.  Their chemistry was A+ and I really got drug into Bianca and was cheering for her the whole way!

Great read for when you just have a little bit of time and want to get in something quick.

Liar By Stephanie St. Klaire

Fake it until you make it. That was the mantra Cori Dash chanted as she chased a big city dream. The more you tell people you’re on top of the world, the more they believe it – just like they believed the embellished image she sold them with her knock off designer façade. It wasn’t lying if the truth stood somewhere in the middle – and she didn’t get caught.

Dominic Blackthorne owned half of that big city…and a reputation. Rather than dispel rumors or show the world the real Nick, he let his own fake image run free. Until Cori Dash – the only person who told him exactly how it was, even if it stung.

When Cori is faced with her ex-fiancé, now engaged to her ex-best friend, it’s game on. In her boldest move yet, she concocts her biggest lie to date by introducing the first handsome stranger that walks by as her new fiancé. Happy to play the part, Nick is already planning the fake wedding of her dreams.

You know what they say about lying – the truth always comes out – and it hurts. Especially when Cori finds out she isn’t the biggest Liar in this game, and she’s been out played.

With a smile a mile wide, he nodded, "You can have anything you want."  Probably my favorite line in the whole story.  Sigh.

Can I have a Nick too?

I love this story.  These fake engagement stories are really getting me.  I just love watching people fight their attraction to one another and Cori and Nick really do give it a good try.

This story is funny and hot all at the same time.  You won't be disappointed.

Operation Girl Next Door by Casey Hagen

Trevor Myers knows how to make it big in the business world: a charming smile, connections, and balls-to-the-wall fearlessness. The master of all three, a partnership with his firm is all but in the bag. That is, until his boss dangles it over him, and three coworkers, like a prize on a game show. Trevor will do whatever it takes to lock in what is rightfully his, even if it means calling in a doozy of a favor from his best friend.

Piper Bradley is on the precipice of making a career-altering decision to expand her dancewear line. Agonizing over the decision, Piper decides to take a trip to clear her head, only to have her brother hamper her plans when he calls her to return a favor for his best friend…Trevor Myers. Owing Trevor for escorting her to her senior prom years earlier, she reluctantly agrees to play his girlfriend for the weekend.
Trevor expects a grownup version of the shy girl toting a sketchpad, not this drop-dead, gorgeous woman who leaves him tongue tied.

Piper decides it’s time to exorcise her long-simmering feelings, once and for all.

Trevor fights the battle waged between his playboy lifestyle and the elemental pull of the girl next door.

This was my most favorite out of the whole series.  Think second chance romance...but not really?

I absolutely loved watching this relationship unfold and their chemistry was HOT!  Loved the lake scene! There was enough drama to keep me intrigued the whole time and I was completely satisfied at the end.

These books were a series of novellas and short stories.  Not once while reading OGND did I think it was too short or that I was missing anything.  I felt like I read a full length story and nothing was missed.

Pillow Talk – Brittany Holland

They say you can't buy love.
But he did... he just doesn't know it yet.
Falling for him was never part of the arrangement.
Neither was sharing his bed.
But I did both.

How much fun would it be to be whisked away by a handsome stranger to be a plus one!?!

Man these stories are pulling me in fast and keeping me interested all the way through the end.

Pillow talk follows Alexa and Ben through a whirlwind trip to Manhattan for meetings and parties, dealing with a vicious ex all while they tip toe around their attraction for one another and the dichotomy of the Ben she first met and the Business world Ben.  This was a great read!

Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Mira Gibson

American heartthrob and notorious bad boy, Zach Canning has gone and made the error of all Hollywood errors. No, it wasn’t sticking his foot in his mouth during an interview again, banging an almost underage fan, or even disappearing on another cocaine-and-booze addled bender. It was far, far worse, and now his TV show renewal contract hinges upon his ability to convince his fan base, the Christian Network, and America at large that he’s just as wholesome as his #Blessed character.

Jesus Christ, how?

Enter Abby Gallagher. As Irish-Catholic as they come, complete with flaming auburn hair and a cross dangling from her necklace, her image is perfect. She’s guarding one hell of a secret, however—she’s a virgin and saving herself for marriage.

When Zach’s publicist approaches her with the most unbelievable proposition—to dispel rumors surrounding the famous actor one sexy date at a time—Abby is more than intrigued. She’s been a fan of his show and has watched religiously… admittedly, a guilty pleasure.

What other guilty pleasures could he give her???

But the secret contract she’s presented with not only states she must pose as his girlfriend in the public eye while the paparazzi follow their every move. She must also elope with Zach in two weeks! Non-negotiable, legally binding, with a corresponding gag-order in place and no guarantee of true love…

Can she go through with it? Will she choose a thrill ride instead of love? What if she could have both with the same man?

Signed, Sealed, Delivered was also one that felt like it was a complete story instead of just a quick read.  Typical playboy in trouble needs a good girl to get him out of trouble...but falls in love.  This was a good story, I probably would have liked a little more drama...his first infraction...she could have been even more upset and made him work for it more.

This book took me over two hours to read, so not as short as some of the books in this set and you'll need a little more time if you want to binge this one...which I did.

4 Stars

Overall this set would get a good 4 stars.  The books were easy to get through as a group.  I loved how each author dropped others characters in their stories.  It made the whole thing very fluent.

SYNOPSIS:

They took me, broke me, remade me in their image. I am branded by their twisted ambitions; martyred by their greed. They ground me down until I was everything they wanted and more, and at the end I thanked them for it.

Jackson.

Dominic.

Cole.

They forced me to love them, and then they cast me aside like yesterday’s trash. But they taught me to be the best. So that’s exactly what they’ll get.

Because in the end… Revenge is sweeter than love.

And they’ll never see me coming.

OUR OPINION:

AMAZING!

This story was fantastic.  Take a girl off the streets and put her in the worst situation ever and what do you get?  One very mad woman!  And she never backs down!

Bedroom Hymns, despite having its main character a victim of the sex trade, is actually pretty hot!  Sophia made the most of her very unfortunate situation and man did she kick butt and take names!

A lot of emotions were pulled out of me for this book and I loved every minute of it.  Any time a book can have me on that kind of roller coaster it is a complete win for me.

There are so many things I thought were great in this book, but I can't really tell you because I don't want to give any of the good stuff away!  And just when the book was ending and I thought I had everything wrapped up in a nice little bow, the author dropped one more fun little nugget in the end...and I didn't see it coming!  But man was I happy!

This is the first time reading anything by Morgan Reeves, but it won't be my last!  I am truly intrigued after reading Bedroom Hymns and can't wait to see what else she has out there.  Looking forward to more reads!

Reading time was a little over 3 hours...which I binged.

Really happy with this read and looking forward to more!

I am giving Bedroom Hymns 5 stars.

SYNOPSIS:

*this book contains dark elements that may be difficult for some readers*

Betray (verb): to deliver to an enemy by treachery

Sold to a sex trafficker by her drug-dealing boyfriend, Phebe Lawson possessed first-hand knowledge of the secrets of betrayal. She’d given up all hope. Her life no longer held any meaning. She would have wished for death to come and take her away, except, she knew wishes were wasted on people like her. Until the day he entered her life. He was a beacon of light in the bleakness she called existence. His arrival sparked a longing inside her that, maybe, hope wasn’t a useless emotion after all.

Heal (verb): to make sound or whole

Donovan Jeffries was the charming one. The flirty, social Dom of the local BDSM club, Eden. He thought he’d found the perfect submissive. Until she betrayed him with another. He closed himself off, vowing to never give his heart to another woman. Until the day she entered his life. Her despair touched a part of his soul he’d thought forever lost, and he would move heaven and earth to piece all her broken parts back together.

OUR OPINION:

OK.  I have a new favorite in the Secrets Series by L.K. Shaw.

I love the darker reads and this one was right up my alley.

Phebe's journey back from her harrowing experience was a tough one to read but it was written very well and I could not put this one down.  Anticipation was the key factor in this story and there was a lot in waiting for Phebe to discover her more submissive side and if it was something she could do and the waiting for Donovan to decide if he can be the Dom she needs.  I actually wanted MORE of the D/s relationship, but I think this book would have become a bazillion pages long.  I can imagine it is hard to get in all the key details of a book of this caliber and knowing that, I'm happy with the story as is.  Though I do hope they make cameo's in future books!

Secrets of Betrayal does follow a storyline from previous books, but it is a standalone and can be read as such.  I loved the previous stories as well, so obviously I recommend getting them too!

I am giving Secrets of Betrayal 5 stars.  Not sure how L.K. Shaw will top this one for me...

SYNOPSIS:

Evie
I met him in a snowstorm...
We spent forty-eight hours trapped in the back of his pickup truck.
We fought.
We touched.
We fell.
Hard.

Storm
She literally crashed into my life...
The last thing I wanted was a relationship. Especially with a quirky chick who drove me insane. But something about her got under my skin, and into my heart.
And I had to have her.
All of her.
Now.

Falling in love in the back of a truck, just the two of us, was easy.
Dealing with psycho fans, jealous exes, and demons from the past....not so easy.

Loving Storm is a novella that gives an extended look into Storm and Evie's future. It is best read after reading Storm (and also Vandal, Lukas, and Talon, as those characters will have short cameos in this book).

OUR OPINION:

Love, Love, Loved this Storm and Evie update Novella.

When you get invested in characters, like Carian Cole is known to make you do, you just want to know how things are going.  I couldn't have asked for a better read.

Already familiar with the characters in the Ashes & Embers series, it was like coming home for the holidays and seeing all of your favorite people.

Being a novella, it was a quick and easy read for me, taking just about two hours.  I don't think it is any secret that I love Carian Cole and her writing...but I was totally taken in from the first page and didn't put it down once.

I am wondering/hoping there will be Novella's for all of our A&E couples!?!?!?

Either way it was a great quick read and you can't go wrong picking it up!

Loved it!  5 stars!

SYNOPSIS:

My name is Cassidy Porter...

My father, Paul Isaac Porter, was executed twenty years ago for the brutal murder of twelve innocent girls.

Though I was only eight-years-old at the time, I am aware - every day of my life - that I am his child, his only son.

To protect the world from the poison in my veins, I live a quiet life, off the grid, away from humanity.

I promised myself, and my mother, not to infect innocent lives with the darkness that swirls within me, waiting to make itself known.

It's a promise I would have kept...if Brynn Cadogan hadn't stumbled into my life.

Now I exist between heaven and hell: falling for a woman who wants to love me, while all along reminding myself that I must remain...

Unloved.

**NOTE: This book is intended for readers 18+**

OUR OPINION:

Hands down...5 stars.

I was crying by chapter 5.  I could not put this book down and when I had to, I made quick work to get back to it.  Reading time for this book was a little over 6 hours and yes I binge read the whole.dang.thing.  Hush.

This wasn't just a story.  It was a journey.  Brynn and Cassidy, each in their own way, were looking for salvation if you will, never thinking they would ever find it.  With all of the doubts for Cassidy and Brynn's past, you have to wonder if they will ever find their way to one another.  The author did a great job keeping me guessing and just when I thought it was over...she twisted it up again.

This story was filled with tons of angst and was a twisty, suspenseful, keep you on the edge of your seat read.

And honestly, I can't remember having read anything by Katy Regnery before.  I know, I know.  What rock have I been living under?  I'll be fixing that.  With this tale, Katy Regnery landed on my one-click list!

You most definitely will not be wasting your time and money with this read!

As stated above, I am giving Unloved 5 stars.

SYNOPSIS:

Beau McIntyre knew the party had to end sometime – he just didn’t realise it would end so soon. After receiving a frantic phone call from his younger brother, Beau is forced to face his responsibilities and return to the small country town and the farm he grew up on.

After finding her fiancé in bed with another woman, Payton packs up her life and her livelihood and escapes her personal torment by fleeing to the country. Settling in a small town, she works her butt off to establish her bakery and turn her dream into everything she ever wanted.

The moment Beau meets the voluptuous Payton, there's an instant spark and he quickly decides that despite the drama facing his family, Payton could be the one good thing in his life. The only problem is that Payton clearly has no interest in anything more than a night or two of uninhibited passion.

Will Beau be able to convince Payton to give him a chance of something more, by letting go of her painful past?

OUR OPINION:

So this is my first experience reading a Rebecca Barber book and I have to say...I'm intrigued.

Taking Charge is book one in the Meet the McIntyres series.  I am guessing the series will all be standalones but I can tell you she does reference characters from some previous books...which I love and will now have to go back and check those out as well.

This has the potential to be a 5 book series...4 brothers and one sister, so getting invested will be super easy for me.  I am a huge fan of series.

Payton was super likable for me.  I mean she bakes and sells coffee.  No brainer there.  She is emotionally off limits and to watch her warm up and become attached to people again is really something to watch...err read.

And Beau.  I mean come on.  Playboy turned responsible that is all alpha and demanding and totally taken with his leading lady?  Love, Love, Love!

The secondary characters in this story promise to be equally fantastic.  The end of the book leaves you ready for book two with a chapter highlighting who may find their HEA next.  And so I'll just need that ASAP?

I wasn't disappointed in this read at all.  The only thing I would have liked a little more is maybe some mystery and a little more emotion pulling.  Overall this was a great story line with fun characters and the promise of more.  I'm in!

I am giving Taking Charge 4 stars.
